Orbital is an agent‑driven Sales Intelligence platform for teams selling into fragmented, offline, and long‑tail SMB markets. Orbital's customers have been underserved by traditional lead gen providers who aren't built to find and segment the long tail of SMB buyers that don't live on LinkedIn, don't have their mailing address listed online, and have websites "under construction."
Orbital also started booking their first customer demos from users who found them entirely through AI Search.
Here's how we did it, and how you can start to think about winning in AI Search for your own brand:
Winning on General Searches, With a Niche Value Prop
Orbital's value proposition hasn't existed before them, which means their customers aren't used to searching for their unique features and workflows. Orbital needed to win in traditional industry queries not specific to their offering (like "email lists"), while still ensuring that the LLMs communicated their unique value proposition and features.
As business buyers increasingly turn to AI search as the first step in their software discovery process, Orbital needed a partner who could not only provide visibility into what users were searching and how they were showing up, but actually do the work to drive new traffic.
They didn't want a dashboard or more work for their team who's already putting in overtime. They just wanted results.
The Results We Delivered in 3 Weeks
By building a custom prompt corpus for Orbital and tailoring a strategy specific to their industry, offering, and competitive set, here's what we were able to achieve:
Sentiment: Clearly communicated value proposition, even when the query asks for general "email list" vendors
How We Did It
We started by identifying how their customers search in ChatGPT (not generating synthetic prompts with an LLM). If you're optimizing for AI-generated prompts, you're leaving a lot of opportunity on the table.
We then used our proprietary platform to find patterns in the LLM decision making process. We uncovered specific types of citations, content, and structure that perform well for each of the verticals that Orbital serves. Unlike traditional search engines, generative engines treat your industry differently than the next, and they may even treat your brand differently than your competitors.
We built a long-term plan to target a wide set of prompts that varied by persona, vertical, features, and query specificity.
We got to work writing highly-specific, targeted content designed to get Orbital on the map and communicate their value proposition. We wrote everything by hand and took pride in the output. We knew that we weren't just writing for AI; we were writing for Orbital's customers too.
